Faritec endorses commitment to enterprise protection

Johannesburg, 29 Apr 2009

JSE-listed IT services and solutions firm Faritec has endorsed its commitment to implementing systems that protect organisations from spam, hackers, viruses and other malware - thereby freeing customers to maintain their critical focus on doing business.

David McMurdo, business unit executive of Faritec's Microsoft division, says the continuing increase in Internet fraud attempts, primarily through phishing, is compelling South African organisations to implement simplified, integrated and comprehensive information security solutions.

“Advanced security solutions that integrate with existing infrastructures are a priority for our customers,” he says. “They're looking for solutions that are simple to set up and administer. We offer solutions which help our customers identify, prevent and respond to threats, and encourage our customers to strengthen their security offerings by leveraging Microsoft Forefront technology.”

Microsoft Forefront provides greater protection and control over the security of an organisation's business network infrastructure, by providing a comprehensive line of information protection and secure access products. In addition, the solution integrates with the customer's existing IT infrastructure and offers simplified deployment, management, and analysis. Technical and industry guidance is also available.

For its part, Microsoft envisages the market for security solutions expanding significantly, primarily due to the ever-changing nature of the threats that are out there.

"We see customers experiencing more sophisticated attacks on their systems and data - all the while having to cope with the increasing complexity of managing security solutions," says Riedwaan Bassadian, security product marketing manager of Microsoft South Africa.

"People are looking to vendors like Microsoft and partners like Faritec to make it easier to batten down the hatches - so we're offering up software that's easy to implement, integrate and manage."

According to McMurdo, Forefront can be supplemented with interoperable third-party solutions, thereby enabling end-to-end security solutions.

The endorsement of Faritec's commitment to security comes in the form of a special offer on the Microsoft Forefront family of security products, from now until the end of June 2009. During this period, Microsoft Forefront Security is available from Faritec without any upfront licensing costs, and at a 30% saving on subscription costs. For the ISA2006 Enterprise Edition, customers can save up to 15% on the licence and Software Assurance costs.

Faritec's offering includes Microsoft Forefront Client Security, Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server, Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint, Antigen for Instant Messaging, Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006, and Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007.

“No matter what the customer's budget may be, information security is attainable - and we can help any organisation achieve it,” McMurdo says.

As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Faritec holds seven of the key Microsoft Competencies: Licensing Solutions; Security Solutions; Unified Communications; Data Management Solutions; Advanced Infrastructure; Network Infrastructure; and Information Worker. The company will use this expertise as well as its countrywide footprint to add value to securing a customer's infrastructure.
