GijimaAst is set to have a shareholders meeting later this month to allow it to change its listed name to Gijima Group.

The company will ask shareholders to vote on 26 July in favour of the name change. No reasons for the change were given in a Stock Exchange News Service announcement.

GijimaAst came about as the result of a merger between the listed AST Group and Gijima Info Technologies, in April 2005.

Brainstorm magazine reported in October of that year that AST was rescued from what was technically an insolvent position by black IT company Gijima. When the company next reports financial results, it will report five years as a combined entity.
