IBM releases BI software

IBM has unveiled software and services to enable mobile devices to closely mimic the desktop features that were only available on the PC, reports networkworld.

The new software includes products with business intelligence (BI), collaboration, social networking and business performance capabilities.

IBM is also providing developers with tools to make existing software applications run on most mobile platforms, including BlackBerry, iPhone, Windows Mobile and Symbian-based handsets.

Infobionics tests management system

Infobionics is inviting corporate CIOs and data warehouse managers to bring on their BI, data warehouse and data mining problems as beta sites for the Infobionics Cellular Database Management System, reports marketwatch.

Unlike static database management systems, the Infobionics Cellular DBMS is the first fluid solution for managing, navigating and querying data.

The Infobionics Cellular DBMS is currently in beta test in the US and is scheduled for general release at the end of 2008.

Ventana releases research

Ventana Research has released research indicating that businesses today depend on effective decision-making, but the majority are not investing wisely in people, processes and technology, reports 24-7pressrelease.

The research: Decision-Making and Performance: Improving Essential Business Analytics and Technologies, reveals that the majority of organisations want to optimise their performance and align it with their goals.

The research found that despite significant investments by IT in BI, the majority of organisations still use spreadsheets and e-mail to optimise performance and struggle to communicate and collaborate to plan and improve.
