Savant has upgraded its Web site to record details of international tenders as part of an international marketing campaign for the local ICT and electronics sectors.
Savant is a public-private partnership between government and industry. Its goal is to establish a foundation awareness campaign for the sector by marketing the industry domestically and to strengthen the local sector to add dimension to its global competitiveness.
One of the main aims of the international marketing campaign is to strengthen existing trade and industry links with industry overseas and to increase global awareness of the local industry.
Sar'e Grobler, a project manager at the trade and industry department, says the new facility on the Savant site is central to the campaign.
"Our intention is to build on this foundation. Obviously the more businesses are exposed to international tender processes, the more likely they are to be involved. This is a positive development in that it shows that the initiative is making progress."
Savant's founding partners are Absa, Comparex Africa, CS Holdings, Dimension Data, EDS SA, Information Industry SA, MGX, MTN, Nedcor, Proudly South African, The International Marketing Council of South Africa, the South African Electrotechnical Export Council and Telkom SA.
