MicroWorld, the leading anti-virus and content security solution provider, announced the release of MailScan 5.6 version, the comprehensive content security software for mail servers.
MailScan 5.6 is power-packed with a host of proactive technologies and advanced algorithms. It is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 64-bit platforms and now supports Lotus Domino 8 Mail Servers too.
MailScan uses powerful content filtering techniques like Greylisting combined with the unique NILP technology. Greylisting is a method of temporarily blocking mails from unknown senders and accepts the mail only on repeated attempts.
NILP, based on artificial intelligence, analyses mails to classify them as spam or ham based on the behavioural pattern of the user.
MailScan also has a built-in anti-virus scan engine powered by the revolutionary MWL technology and an advanced heuristic scanner that scans both inbound and outbound e-mails, for effectively blocking malware at the mail server itself before they can reach the endpoints.
MailScan 5.6 now boasts of a powerful Web-based administration console that allows remote administration through a browser. It also enables LDAP and POP3 authentication to authenticate valid users and restrict unauthorised access to quarantined mails.
On the launch occasion of MailScan 5.6, Jo-Ann Viljoen, Marketing Manager of MicroWorld South Africa, said: "Spam accounts for more than 90% of today's e-mail communication. Spammers are adapting various devious techniques to sneak past anti-spam solutions. MailScan 5.6 works on multiple levels to rule out spam and phishing effectively and ensures protecting businesses from spam menace."
