Protek, a leading global supplier of business and operational support systems (B&OSS), has been chosen by the Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC) to supply it with its network management system, part of its best in class nexoss Unified OSS suite.
STC is the largest communications provider in the Middle East, with around 8 million fixed and mobile subscribers, and is the sole mobile and landline telecommunications provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
``This contract goes a long way to firmly establishing Protek as a major player in the network management arena - STC is a tier one provider and owns the largest network in the Middle East," said Paul Beaumont, Protek CEO. "I am confident that the nexoss Unified OSS network management solution will provide STC with even better control of its network as well as delivering the benefits of increased return on investment."
STC needed to find a way of improving the service it provides to its large and ever-growing GSM customer base, while ensuring it is maximising the return on investment of its asset base. Protek`s network management solution will enable the company to enhance control and performance of its vast multi-vendor network infrastructure, made up of thousands of remote microwave PDH sites distributed across Saudi Arabia. The solution has been successfully piloted at 14 sites and will be rolled out across the remaining 1 436 sites over the next 15 months.
"Performance management, configuration management and security features are integral to Protek`s network management solution," Beaumont continued. "Sophisticated root cause analysis and correlation will allow STC to rapidly identify the root cause of network faults, allowing them to pinpoint and correct those services affected by a particular fault. In addition, STC will gain faster fault resolution capability, reduced network management costs and improved customer service."
Protek`s solution provides a multi-vendor, multi-technology management system delivering maximum network utilisation and rapid return on investment. It will be implemented in conjunction with Protek`s local partner, Bazy. The implementation will involve the deployment of Data Communication Network (DCN) equipment to connect STC`s 1 450 sites to the Protek Unified OSS network management system and enable a unified, end-to-end view of all network elements from the Network Operations Centre.
