New identity for technology rental giant

Johannesburg, 23 Aug 2004

Spartan, one of the leading and longest-serving technology rentals company in SA, will adopt a new corporate identity from early-August to align itself with industry trends as well as reflect its new strategic direction and business objectives.

Established in 1981, the company will also adjust its name from Spartan Computer Rentals to Spartan Technology Rentals.

"This name change is indicative that our product offering has diversified to way beyond the rental of computers and computer-related equipment only, while retaining the Spartan identity denotes our pride in our 23-year heritage," said CEO Kumaran Padayachee.

He added that the new Spartan logo combined elements of the conservative with the contemporary to create a look that is "sophisticated, yet powerful".

"Our new corporate image is slick, simple and balanced. The fusion of the business, finance and technology categories that Spartan is involved in is aptly mirrored by our new logo," explained Padayachee.

The new CI was also sparked by an ownership change at the company in November last year from arivia.kom to the KPA asset-based finance group, making the 'new' Spartan the most black-empowered technology rental company in the country.

Aligned with its revised brand identity, Spartan Technology Rentals has also overhauled its corporate colours, logo and pay-off line.

"We are certain that our new CI is in synch with our new strategic direction of making Spartan a leading technology rental company, with government, parastatals and large corporate companies becoming more prominent on our client base.

At the same time, we are equally committed to consolidating and rendering a more efficient service to all our existing customers," emphasises Padayachee.

He adds that new brand image will help position Spartan at the cutting-edge of the technology rentals industry in the country. "In essence, our new CI has revitalised our image, while our logo indicates that we're switched on to industry needs and trends, and that Spartan is a respected power-house among the technology rental industry's main role-players."

Spartan Technology Rentals offers full-maintenance (long-term) as well as short-term rental options. With a range of optional valued-added services, customers are assured of a total solution and full service under one roof.

The company's new positioning statement - 'Powering ICT via rental solutions' - encapsulates the spectrum of Spartan's core business.

"Furthermore, the new Spartan has remained vendor independent, thereby ensuring that our clientele are able to rent technology equipment of their brand of choice," states Padayachee.

Armed with its new corporate image, Spartan Technology Rentals is set to play a more instrumental role in preserving and enhancing the integrity of the technology rentals industry in SA.

"We are determined to become industry protectors by benchmarking the highest industry standards, practices and ethics. Spartan Technology Rentals will also play a constructive role in encouraging the transformation process within our sector," says Padayachee.

With its refreshing new identity, coupled with more than two decades of industry expertise, Spartan Technology Rentals is poised to bolster its stake at the high-end of the technology rental market in the country.
