New VOIP mobile service in Japan

A mobile device that could be described as the first VOIP-only mobile phone has been launched in Japan by JAJAH and EMOBILE, says Telappliant.com.

The EM-ONE device uses the JAJAH mobile software client to make and receive calls using mobile broadband, so it does not require a traditional mobile connection.

EMOBILE CE Kengo Masuda said: "To build a revolutionary device in the most advanced mobile market is a real achievement, and we are very proud of what EMOBILE and JAJAH have been able to accomplish together." The service should be available to the entire Japanese population by August 1.

Vincomm lands new contracts

Despite fierce nationwide competition, Vinculum Communications, a San Diego-based VOIP provider, recently signed three contracts to convert traditional telecom services to Internet-based calling capabilities, reports SDBJ.com.

The National Head Start Association plans to gradually deploy Vincomm's VOIP services throughout its organisation of over 200 000 employees in approximately 65 000 offices.

In addition, the San Diego World Trade Center has signed an agreement to promote Vincomm's services to all of its member organisations, and Ameriken Telecom, a Kenya-based telecoms provider, agreed to promote Vincomm services to numerous markets.

VOIP Logic introduces carrier billing

VOIP Logic, a global provider of VOIP managed services and solutions, has introduced a new wholesale billing module for its Cortex middleware, says Market Watch.

Expected to be immediately in demand as it delivers an easy-to-use, integrated NextPoint solution for wholesale billing, Cortex Wholesale Billing is available to all NextPoint customers who work with VOIP Logic.

Micah Singer, VOIP Logic CEO and Founder, commented, "With the highly competitive nature of the telecommunications market, all wholesale service providers demand a reliable, cost-effective billing solution, and must monitor profitability and productivity."
