Sagent, a leading provider of enterprise business intelligence solutions, today announced that it is the top-ranked ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) vendor in Japan for the second year in a row, based on market share research from MIC Research Institute Ltd, an independent research firm in Japan.
The study showed that Sagent captured over 40% of the Japanese ETL market in 2001 based on sales of the Sagent Data Load Server, an increase from its 2000 market share of 38.5%. Sagent's main competitors achieved below 20% market share in 2001 in Japan.
Susan Andre, Managing Director of Sagent SA, says the local ETL market is also seeing some solid growth. "The South African market is busy choosing leading-edge technologies over the traditional manual approach such as programmers coding extraction routines. Even though the ETL capabilities of the Sagent Solution remain core to the integrated platform, which was designed by Sagent, it is actually Sagent's ETP capabilities that set us apart from the other players. General market trend is that of vendors bolting together technologies to achieve this effect."
The ETL market is still the fastest growing business intelligence category in Japan. Year-to-year growth in 2001 was 37.7%, and it is expected to grow at another 49.7% in 2002, according to MIC Research Institute. Sagent continues to solidify its position across Asia, reporting its seventh consecutive quarter of growth in the region last quarter. New customers in the first quarter of 2002 include Korean National Red Cross and NEC Malaysia; Sagent also renewed business at companies such as Kawasaki Steel, Industrial Bank of Japan, and Asahi Breweries.
"Sagent has had exceptional success in building a strong customer base and strategic partnerships in Asia, despite challenging economic conditions," said John Maxwell, Sagent Senior Vice President and General Manager, Asia-Pacific. "We are seeing the results of our investments in personnel and product localisation, as well as partner support. We increased our customer base in Asia by 75% in 2001. I'm very pleased with our continued progress in the region."
Sagent has significant partners in the region, including Kawatetsu Information Systems, NEC, Fujitsu BSC, Hitachi-Soft, INTEC, and iSi-Dentsu. Sagent Japan also has a strategic partner relationship with Microsoft Japan.
Sagent SA is the exclusive distributor of the Sagent Solution in Southern Africa.
