SITA hunts for new chairperson

Johannesburg, 28 Sep 2011

The State IT Agency (SITA) is on the hunt for a new chairperson, according to the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA).

Minister Richard Baloyi has confirmed to ITWeb that Zodwa Manase's term has ended as board chairperson and processes have begun to hire a new one.

SITA says Manase's term ended at the end of August. She was reappointed as SITA chairperson for the third time in March 2010.

“The minister is working on finalising the issue of the chairperson. He is working to urgently fill the position,” says DPSA spokesperson Dumisani Nkwamba.

He adds that as soon as all the internal processes are complete, the minister will make an announcement on the chairperson. The department cannot, as yet, give a timeframe for the appointment of a new chairperson.

“There is no vacuum in the meantime. Febe Potgieter-Gqubule is acting chairperson.”

Potgieter-Gqubule was appointed as deputy chairperson of the board in March 2010.
