Software AG, which was placed in the Leaders' Quadrant of the 2014 Gartner Magic Quadrant for On-Premises Application Integration Suites [1], showcased the world's first Digital Business Platform at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2015 in Cape Town.
Software AG's Digital Business Platform operates at the interface between real-time business operations and changing customer and market requirements. It allows the fast and cost-effective development and deployment of a new type of customer-facing, front-office business applications and solutions in a timeframe that maximises return on investment. It also provides a comprehensive approach to designing and implementing the flexible and cost-effective IT architectures needed to support these adaptive applications.
Software AG's CTO, Africa, Patrick Shields, said: "The Digital Business Platform is particularly relevant to many departments within the enterprise. From the CIO implementing an optimal, cost-effective and flexible IT architecture to departmental business managers who need to quickly develop adaptive applications at the individual, departmental or divisional levels. The Digital Business Platform is also of interest to the CEO, who needs to develop an enterprise-wide digital strategy."
Software AG helps organisations transform into digital enterprises in order to differentiate from their competitors and better engage with customers and partners. Shields presented to decision-makers and CIO delegates at the Gartner Symposium on how the digital change is disrupting businesses, and that this disruption demands a big change in IT infrastructure and a digital vision.
Shields noted: "To rise to the digital challenge, the IT community will require a good grasp of the current tools and techniques that are available to organisations that seek to leverage today's digital shift, ensuring they have 'super-manoeuvrable' business processes," he says.
Shields presented: 'The five facts you can't afford to ignore' during the Theatre Session speaking slots on Tuesday.
The "Five Facts" discussed by Shields were:
1. Digitisation is effecting radical changes in all organisations, and conventional applications cannot keep pace.
2. Because of this major change, a new generation of business applications is needed, which exhibits speed, agility, scalability and responsiveness.
3. The power behind the fact that customers now have more influence than ever before, resulting in businesses being required to know their exact digital 'shoe size'.
4. Exploring the question of whether to buy or build - with the answer now being both buying and building.
5. How technology can be harnessed to manage digital change and building adaptive applications, specifically through the Digital Business Platform - a global, award-winning digital solution developed by Software AG's experts, which enables companies to incorporate new and exciting digital capabilities, while at the same time seamlessly integrating with current operations.
Delegates attended Shield's presentation on 29 September at the ITxpo Theatre, Hall 4, where he explored: 'The tools and techniques to start your digital journey', as well as: 'The five facts you can't afford to ignore'.
