Spiceworks releases management software

Spiceworks has released the free Spiceworks IT Desktop, now able to support organisations with 500 devices, reports BusinessWire.

Spiceworks IT Desktop is believed to be the industry's first free crowd-sourced IT management application for small and medium enterprises, and the new version is now able to support double the previous recommended limit.

With new capabilities, such as improved performance, granular network scans, and integration with other network management tools such as Nagios, larger organisations can now use the Spiceworks IT Desktop to manage more of their day-to-day network and system management needs.

Oz implements management advice

Australia has decided to implement in full the recommendations of Sir Peter Gershon, UK Treasury's former chief executive regarding ICT management, reports futuregov.

Last year, Gershon performed an independent review of the Australian Government's management of ICT.

The report Sir Peter submitted to Lindsay Tanner, Minister for Finance and Deregulation, in August, outlined a comprehensive and detailed analysis of issues affecting the government's use and management of ICT, and also outlines a staged plan for the implementation of his seven recommendations.

Ramsac, DHC partner

IT solutions consultancy Ramsac and business software specialist DHC, have formed a strategic partnership offering businesses a one-stop-shop for all their IT hardware, software, service and support needs, according to TMCnet.

The partnership combines DHC's integrated business software solution, including accounting, CRM and workflow solutions, with Ramsac's stress-free IT outsourcing services, ranging from remote telephone support, to a fully managed outsourced IT department that delivers the technology business needs to operate efficiently.

"Businesses need to be wholly focused on running their day-to-day operations without the inconvenience of dealing with the multiple IT suppliers," comments MD of Ramsac, Robert May.
