Technology stocks rally

Johannesburg, 03 Sep 1998

Following good news from Wall Street, JSE technology stocks saw their first broad-based rally after a stormy week that reduced many newcomers and blue chip companies to half their share value.

Yesterday`s recovery was spectacular, especially for small companies, as investors rushed to take advantage of the bargains. TCO climbed 43.08% to 130c, followed by Unihold (25.79% jump to 330c) and Zaptronix (27.27% gain to 110c).

The top three technology companies also halted their downward trend. Dimension Data shares went up 5.51% to 2270c, as did Datatec (0.85% gain to 5900c) and PQ Holdings (1.20% jump to 4510c).
