US-based fashion and technical eyewear design company, Barbara Creations, launched its Web-iWear computer glasses at Comdex Chicago 2001 this week.

The glasses feature an amber tint, slight magnification and two-sided anti-reflective coating to combat symptoms associated with computer vision syndrome (CVS).

Recent studies by the American Optometric Association and the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health estimate that nearly 90% of the 70 million US workers who use computers for more than three hours a day experience some form of strain and vision complaints.

CVS results in a range of eye and vision problems experienced related to computer use. Symptoms include eyestrain; blurred vision; dry, itchy eyes; headaches; incorrect and delayed focusing; inaccurate colour perception; sensitivity to light; and back, neck and shoulder pain.

"Web-iWear features scientifically developed lenses especially tinted to improve contrast and clarity; and reduce glare," says Tibor Gross, executive VP and COO of Barbara Creations.
