Xpedia enters online SMS market with TextConnect

Johannesburg, 30 Jul 2010

Xpedia's first online communications service, TextConnect, was launched today. TextConnect is a simple, yet powerful bulk SMS sending and survey tool. Apart from sending individual and bulk SMSes, TextConnect allows users to run a survey in a matter of minutes through a few predefined survey templates. SMS is the main message type, but users also have the option to send the same message via e-mail.

The contact management features include the ability to create unlimited contact groups, assign contacts to multiple groups and import and export contact details. By managing your contact groups effectively, sending SMS's to a specific subset of your contact list becomes very easy.

In a market filled with a plethora of similar online applications, TextConnect aims to provide more powerful functionality than your average online SMS tool, while providing users with an easy-to-use, uncluttered user interface.

TextConnect as an enterprise-wide SMS solution

Businesses who would like to increase their internal communication or improve their customer relationships can use TextConnect to stay connected to employees, customers and suppliers.

In such cases, Xpedia can enable more advanced versions, not available in the general online version to help customers improve communication. These include sub-user functionality and the ability to share credits between the main and sub-users. Contacts can also be shared between users, with the ability to limit who can maintain contact information. Users can also be restricted to send SMSes only to contacts and not to numbers that are captured manually.

Under the bonnet

TextConnect is the first application to use mReach, a multi-protocol communications and integration platform that has been Xpedia's main development focus for the past 18 months. TextConnect only scratches the surface when it comes to using mReach's functionality.

mReach's flexible set-up and rules-based configuration provides a myriad of options to allow effective SMS communication. Conversational flow and rules can be configured to suit exact requirements. Various integration options that trigger actions in other business systems can further optimize processes.

mReach is services-oriented architecture (SOA) compliant and all communication uses Web services. This allows customers to integrate using most main stream technologies and programming languages.
