Alain Schram is MD of Sub-Saharan Africa at Avaya. He joined Avaya in 2000 as a customer relationship management specialist. After eight months with the company, he was appointed to the position of MD for the Sub-Saharan Africa region. Prior to joining Avaya, Schram worked with the then Usko as general manager for its VPN and Internet services business. He has also held senior positions at Lucent, Olivetti and was the country manager for Hypercom. Coming from a technical, sales and marketing-driven background in both voice and data environments, he understands how the two work together, why it makes business sense to use the two together, and the business environments they are most applicable to.
