Lourens Swanepoel is senior director: CTO and innovation lead at Avanade South Africa: As the senior director responsible for the CTO and innovation lead role for Avanade South Africa, Swanepoel is responsible for three primary areas: digital transformation, digital innovation and cloud. He has a passion for and specialises in innovation and business platform optimisation, cloud computing and its possibilities for SA, and digital transformation to deliver true value. Swanepoel has held pre-sales, solution architecting and management roles at some of the largest South African companies. He started his career with an open source start-up, Newwave, focusing on identity and access management, with global venture capital funding, before moving into systems integration and infrastructure optimisation, and consulting, working with global vendors such as Microsoft, IBM, McAfee, Symantec and HP. He holds various tertiary and industry qualifications and is currently completing his business management degree through Unisa.
