Bruce Schneier

Founder and the CTO of BT Counterpane Internet Security.

Security technologist and author Bruce Schneier is a founder and the CTO of BT Counterpane Internet Security. He designed the Blowfish and Twofish encryption algorithms, the latter a finalist for the new Federal Advanced Encryption Standard. Schneier is also the author of eight books, including his current bestseller, Beyond Fear: Thinking Sensibly about Security in an Uncertain World, which tackles diverse aspects of security, from personal safety to crime, corporate security and national security. He writes the free e-mail newsletter, Crypto-Gram, which has over 120 000 readers. Schneier has presented papers at many international conferences, and is a frequent writer, contributing editor and lecturer on the topics of cryptography, computer security and privacy. He serves on the board of directors of the International Association for Cryptologic Research, and is an advisory board member for the Electronic Privacy Information Centre. Schneier holds an MS degree in computer science from American University and a BS degree in physics from the University of Rochester.
