Pilot Software's industry leading back of house and front of house point of sale has been implemented at no charge at the NID.
The National Institute for the Deaf (NID) is a non-profit organisation, empowering the deaf and persons with hearing loss through education, training and care since 1881. NID serves deaf people of all ages with the aim of equipping each beneficiary to reach their full potential.
As part of NID's efforts to empower deaf persons, NID has established several business training units where beneficiaries are equipped with entrepreneurial and business skills needed to establish their own enterprise. The NID Tea Garden is one of these business training units, which not only provides employment to persons with a hearing loss, but also valuable practical training to students of the NID College. The tea garden also acts as a fully functioning retail unit for the public.
Pilot has provided all point of sale software required for the Tea Garden, and has made trainers and consultants available as required.
Says Glenn Miller, Pilot Software MD: "We at Pilot appreciate the work the NID undertake to help those with profound hearing loss to help themselves. Their holistic approach to education, training, health and spiritual care is highly effective, and it is the only facility in South Africa and Africa which offers this full spectrum of services. We are proud to be an organisation that can help the NID in some small way."
According to Lindsay Piek, NID Manager: "The NID Tea Garden has been using the Pilot POS system effectively, and has enjoyed an excellent relationship with Pilot. The NID is deeply grateful to Pilot for its understanding of the important work done through its business training units, and its willingness to contribute by offering its product and services free of charge. As a partner in the empowerment of the deaf, Pilot truly is a change-maker."
