Mobile operator MTN has launched MTN Pulse, a prepaid price plan aimed at the youth market, enabling customers who are subscribed to the plan to call each other at 29c a minute.

"The first 60 seconds of the first call on the day is charged at 79c/min, thereafter a 29c/min rate applies for the rest of the day for all MTN Pulse to MTN Pulse calls," says the company in a statement.

Larry Annetts, CMO at MTN SA, says MTN Pulse is tailored for the customer on the lookout for value.

"MTN Pulse is a culmination of insight gathering we had undertaken into our youth market; we know they demand customised products and solutions that they can identify with," says Annetts.

Non-MTN Pulse local calls on-net (MTN) will be charged at 79c/min, says MTN, adding that off-net calls are charged at R1.20. Any prepaid customer can subscribe to the Pulse plan by dialling *141*4*6#.
