Annuity revenue at SilverBridge gained 9% year-on-year, says CEO Jaco Swanepoel.

SilverBridge, which has been focused on growing its top line, maintained its trend towards profitability, turning its half-year R1.9 million gain into R5.9 million at the end of June.

However, revenue was flat, at R83.8 million, compared with R82.3 million a year ago.

Despite this, CEO Jaco Swanepoel is pleased with the results. "Overall revenue increased marginally; however, our annuity-based rental revenue grew healthily with a 9% increase from the previous year. In years past, this was and remains a core focus area for our business."

Swanepoel says the growth in rental revenue was driven by a combination of increased usage by existing clients and the addition of new clients.

The company will focus on growing overall revenue by continuing to operate within the current business models and leveraging existing competencies in new market segments, says Swanepoel.

"The overall outlook for the group remains positive as it continues to build its annuity revenue and strengthen its core business around this."

SilverBridge also showed "a healthy increase in margins" in its connect implementation and connect support segments. Swanepoel attributes this to more focus on small to medium-sized customers which typically yield higher margins than the contracts with larger customers.

The listed company spent about two years on becoming more efficient and trimming costs. A few years ago, after a difficult period, it went through a retrenchment phase.
