MTN has introduced its new Night Express Internet bundles for prepaid subscribers, allowing them to connect at reduced rates between midnight and 6am each morning.

In a statement released today, the yellow operator said: "For a monthly subscription from as low as R10, MTN prepaid subscribers will receive 100MB worth of data bundles to use to surf the Internet and connect to social media platforms. This data is valid for a period of 30 days and can be used between midnight (00:00:01) and 05:59:59 in the morning."

The company said subscribers can opt for either monthly subscriptions to Night Express bundles, or make once-off purchases.

Other bundles on offer include R25 for 300MB of data, while R35 gets users 500MB. "Customers with a voracious data appetite can opt for a R59 monthly subscription which will give them 1GB of data, while a R109 Night Express Internet Bundle will provide them with 2GB and R139 with 5GB worth of data," said MTN.

The operator added customers can purchase their Night Express bundles via the self-service channels by using their airtime wallets or dialling 173 for assistance. They can also be purchased via the USSD code *141*2*4#.

Bundles are valid for a month but can be renewed by making further purchases. The company noted that any unused value will expire at the end of the 30-day period. "At the end of the validity period and when the customer does not have the recurring bundle, the Internet usage will deplete from the customer's existing bundles or in a case where the customer does not have the data bundle, data usage will deplete at price plan rate."
