Dax Data and Adobe recently hosted a launch event for the 2014 release of Creative Cloud at Cape Town's One&Only. The event focused on the new features and updates released the previous week at the MAX 2014 conference where Adobe unveiled nine new mobile apps for Creative Cloud - extending the power of Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and Premiere franchises to mobile devices.

"Once again Adobe has gone the extra mile to deliver an impressive set of tools for the creative-on-the-go. The event saw a new trend in mobile apps, changing the way designers work across platforms. The crowd was awed by the new mobile apps and we were delighted to be able to demonstrate these features so soon after the initial release," explains Jeremy Matthews, CEO of Dax Data, Authorised Adobe Distributor.

The newest versions of Photoshop CC and Illustrator CC include breakthroughs in Touch Support for Microsoft Windows 8 and Surface Pro 3 and focus on an all-new Creative Profile that drives the connection between CC desktop tools and mobile apps. This is Adobe's way of keeping users' work and workflow consistent across all devices and workstations - files, photos, colours, brushes, shapes, fonts, text styles, graphics and other assets are accessible everywhere - seamlessly.

* Adobe's Carla Ralph introduced Illustrator Draw, (formerly Adobe Ideas) an app that allows users to access their favourite vector drawing tools and features - all in a modern, streamlined interface. This app has enhanced support for Adobe Ink and Slide and integrates seamlessly with Illustrator CC and Illustrator Line. Line is a precision drawing app which has been updated to offer creatives new features for perfectly distributing shapes as they draw and enabling them to send sketches to Illustrator CC.
* Photoshop Sketch - new to the Photoshop family - allows users to draw with built-in expressive brushes and enables workflow with Photoshop CC and Illustrator CC. Photoshop Mix received an update which now includes an iPhone version and enhanced integration with Photoshop CC. Lightroom Mobile has improved integrated desktop and mobile workflows and includes features that allow users and friends to select, share and comment on favourite photos.
* Joining the mobile trend is the Premiere Family - the new Adobe Premiere Clip transforms videos on iPhone and iPad into edited clips which can be easily shared. Aspiring videographers can send their compositions to Adobe Premiere CC for advanced editing and finishes. MSD's Mohammed Jogie, the video fundi, demonstrated some new features in Premiere Pro and Premiere Clip.

Ralph also introduced the audience to a new category of "capture" apps to create designs and bring them into creative workflows:

* Adobe Brush CC allows designers to craft unique brushes on iPad or iPhone - to use in Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC or Illustrator Sketch. Any photograph can be made into a brush, giving creatives an opportunity to quickly and playfully design high-res brushes ranging from photorealistic, organic or painterly to graphic.
* Adobe Shape CC is a simple, unique and fun way to capture and create shapes on iPhone or iPad. A high-res photo of any object, living creature or hand-drawn font can be converted into vector art - immediately available in other applications such as Illustrator CC or Photoshop CC, via Creative Cloud Libraries.
* Adobe Colour CC (former Adobe Kuler) allows users to capture and save colours as themes - accessible through the Creative Cloud Libraries and which can be used in other Adobe applications such as Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC.

The event was a great success for both Dax Data and Adobe, affording creative professionals an opportunity to see Adobe's cutting-edge technology in action and network with like-minded individuals as well as Adobe Partners. The session ended with a prize draw with two lucky winners each taking home a full 12-month Creative Cloud for Teams subscription.
