Logicalis' purchase of Inforsacom will grow the unit's German presence, says Datatec CEO Jens Montanana.

Datatec, listed in London and Johannesburg, says its Logicalis unit has agreed to buy Inforsacom Holding, a German ICT services and solutions provider, for an undisclosed amount.

Inforsacom is a provider of database, storage and infrastructure solutions and services with operations across the major economic centres of Germany. "The acquisition will significantly enhance Logicalis' scale and capabilities in the German ICT market," Datatec says in a statement.

Inforsacom has an annual turnover of about $140 million (about R1.5 billion) and employs 160 staff.

Datatec CEO Jens Montanana notes the deal "creates a larger platform with broader ICT services capabilities to augment Logicalis' existing German operations, in line with the strategy of growing our presence in Europe".

The acquisition is subject to approval by the German competition authorities and the South African Reserve Bank, and is expected to be finalised in January.

The deal follows a recent spate of small acquisitions by Datatec, which includes its September purchase of Verecloud for $12 million. That deal followed news that its Logicalis Group had bought a 51% stake in Ituma, a speciality software developer based in Germany.
