The Notes section on Facebook, which has been part of the social platform for as long as the 'poking' feature, this week received a revamp, making it look similar to other popular blogging sites.

Blogger and software developer Dave Winer noted in a tweet on Monday that the redesigned section has a Medium-like appearance.

Medium is a blog-publishing platform, publically launched in 2013 by Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone. The platform set itself apart from others with its simple uniformity across posts, and the ability to share and recommend posts within the platform.

Medium posts feature a large header picture and readable black text on a white background underneath - similar to what a post will look like in the new Notes section on Facebook.

The redesign is not available to all users yet. A Facebook spokesperson told The Next Web: "We're testing an update to Notes to make it easier for people to create and read longer-form stories on Facebook."

Earlier this year, Facebook hired Teehan Lax, the design company that was involved in designing the first version of Medium.
