The broad adoption of disruptive technologies - including cloud, virtualisation, mobility, software-defined data centres, and big data - have introduced new and more challenging requirements for enterprise IT. Traditional methods for provisioning and maintaining storage resources are no longer sufficient to achieving business goals, due to the fact that technology layers mask the relationship of application workloads to the physical storage devices that support them.
To be effective, organisations must enable holistic visibility into the entire storage ecosystem that dynamically recognises the relationship of elements across each level of the ecosystem, from applications to clouds to virtualisation infrastructure and all the way down to individual storage devices.
Additionally, new storage solutions must support these disruptive technologies while operating across heterogeneous, multi-vendor storage architectures and providing the essential insights necessary for making informed business decisions.
