Danny Drew has been appointed as the new MD to lead Avaya's South African business.

Multi-channel business communication solutions provider Avaya has appointed Danny Drew as the new managing director of its South African operations.

A statement notes the move aims to continue Avaya's transformation into a customer-centric, solutions and services-driven organisation.

Drew will focus on expanding the customer base in South Africa, while increasing penetration into existing accounts and developing the channel landscape, the statement reads.

He will also focus on delivering engagement solutions that enable deep and broad business connections that lead to better business outcomes.

Drew says: "By focusing more closely on the South African market, I expect to be able to help develop accounts in key industry verticals, including service providers, banking, education and government, and bring Avaya's solutions to a wider audience."

Meanwhile, Avaya has also appointed Selvin Kristnen to manage the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region as business development director.

Kristnen will be responsible for driving growth across the six-state SADC region, which represents potential for Avaya, with opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Commenting on his appointment, Kristnen says: "The market is recognising that Avaya is bringing innovative and outcome-focused solutions that deliver business transformation. I look forward to working more closely with organisations across all six member states of the SADC region bordering South Africa and helping them to achieve better business outcomes."

Both Drew and Kristnen will report directly to Hatem Hariri, MD of the entire Africa region.
