Telkom extends SmartBroadband packages to select parts of South Africa.

Telkom is extending its SmartBroadband uncapped high-speed wireless packages to 520 LTE base stations across the country.

The fixed-line operator says it plans to extend its packages focusing on select LTE sites in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and Western Cape.

This is an extension of the original phase and it will be available from 1 December to 30 June, says Telkom.

"We have seen such an uptake on these offers in Gauteng that we now see the rollout of the third phase officially making this a national offer," says Attila Vitai, MD of Telkom Mobile and Consumer.

Vitai adds: "This is a one-of-a-kind offering in South Africa and it means that we continue to drive better value for our customers in innovative ways."

According to Telkom, the introductory online sale will start at R599 for the first 50 customers, R699 for the second 50, and R799 for the final 50 available packages at each base station. Telkom's SmartBroadband uncapped high-speed wireless service includes uncapped data for all traffic types. Normal fair usage policies will be applied.

Customers will also be able to access this offer at Telkom stores or via Telkom's direct sales force, on a 24-month contract at prices starting at R599.

As part of the promotional offer, customers will also receive an antenna and installation by Telkom technicians at no additional cost. Promotional packages will be capped at 150 per base station to ensure a high quality customer experience with the service.

The online sale portal and the list of eligible LTE locations can be accessed via the Telkom site.
