The importance of resource management in telecoms

Using Resource Management as a technology to enable visibility.

Careful management of telecommunication resources can help cut cost and create greater efficiencies within a business. However, mismanagement of telecommunication resources can lead to excessive budgets, project failure and other operational inefficiencies.

An increasing number of companies are faced with the challenge of having visibility over their telecommunication expenses, whether it's fixed or mobile, voice or data, or across different network service providers.

For large enterprises, the multiplicity of tools and teams required to maintain, monitor and manage this environment creates the biggest trial. Most frequently, the management of this area has to be done in-house. This includes the setting up of the reports, the drawing of the reports, scrutinising the reports and the allocation of the reports to the individual cost centres or persons etc.

With this in mind, Telesa has recently launched an upgrade to the Telesa RMS (Resource Management Service) product which is designed to enable businesses to integrate different reporting systems into one, enabling the concept of "One View".

RMS is a management platform devised and used to collect usage data from a wide variety of devices and forms the primary methodology for collecting usage and cost information and displaying it at all levels in a company.

RMS is focused on providing automated reports as well as management alert prompts in support of creating awareness around irregular indicators and profile changes.

RMS provides costing mechanisms and supports the management of excessive resource expenditures.

It is an environment where multiple devices are reported on in a structured form from company level down to user level. The rates applied to the services are based on a cost calculated around the model that is relevant to that service or that client. It does not necessarily mean that the rates applied will be equal to the bill rendered as this can be affected by billing complexities. Telesa however has a supportive product to close this gap called BMS (Bill Management Service).
