Google Play Music Concierge provides curated playlists for any situation.

Google has introduced Google Play Music Concierge in 20 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa, including SA. The feature gives subscribers to the music streaming service access to curated playlists tailored to specific contexts.

Names of some the playlists include: working out, jumping out of bed, waking up gently and drinking gourmet coffee.

The playlists, or stations, have been put together by a team of experts, says Google. They include DJs, musicians, music critics and ethnomusicologists.

Subscribers will be prompted, the next time they log onto the service, to play music for a time of day, mood or activity. They will then be given a few options of stations to suit the situation.

Users are able to download the playlists to listen offline, see what song is up next, and add, remove or re-order them to suit their taste.

The new activity-based station recommendations are available for subscribers in SA on Android, iOS and the Web.

Google Play Music has more than 35 million songs in its archive.

The streaming service launched in SA last year, shortly after rival Apple Music debuted worldwide. Apple's music streaming service also offers playlists hand-picked by industry experts.
