Mobile sales solution takes industry by storm

Application specialist harnesses flexibility and affordability of Microsoft Azure

Johannesburg, 20 Jun 2016

The introduction of a mobile cloud-based sales solution, sales.go, that allows organisations to build and enhance their solution offerings around business requirements has sparked massive interest across local industries owing to the unique affordability and flexibility benefits offered.

With a specialised focus on the mobilised sales force, sales.go comprises a modular territory management and ordering solution for administering an end-to-end sales and customer management solution incorporating appointments, orders, leads, opportunities, tasks, and engagements.

.go Executive Yvonne Dias explains that, while mobile applications for the sales force do currently exist, most competitors select one product and/or industry and build a product based on that specific knowledge set. The issue with this approach, however, is that the product is fixed and, therefore requires organisations to modify their business processes to utilise the solution.

Sales.go, however, uses a unique architecture design that permits .go to mold the solution to any business process and ensure enhanced business operations, flexibility, and affordability. In addition, the mobile solution is hosted on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, which allows integration into numerous SaaS applications, thereby providing clients with a singular view of multiple systems.

"We chose Microsoft Azure as our development platform because it leverages the full Microsoft eco-system and simplifies integration possibilities with other platforms. Microsoft Azure also eliminates the need to worry about hardware provisioning and scaling and reduces the need for IT maintenance costs, which is a big win for clients that deploy the application," Dias notes.

"While sales.go will officially be launched in June 2016, Microsoft and .go have been demonstrating the product to major industry players in the local market since January 2016 and have had a very positive response to the new technology. Since then, the .go range of products has been extended to include records.go and talent.go."

"The application enables cost savings and increased flexibility for organisations owing to its unique architecture design," notes Clifford de Wit, Chief Innovation Officer, Microsoft South Africa.

Mobile Applications in Demand

Development lead for .go, Ryan Britton, explains that the organisation specialises in mobile productivity apps owing to the growing need for technology solutions that enable people to better manage their work life.

Britton further states that "technology has evolved to enable flexibility and scalability when it comes to work. Being office bound is no longer required for people to get work done and having full visibility and access to all work information and systems while visiting a client, running on a treadmill at the gym, or lounging in front of the television with your family, ensures greater productivity and bodes well for the bottom line."

He stresses that with 1.3 billion anytime, anywhere global workers reported in 2015, it is crucial for organisations to harness technology that enables these resources, and ensures that the organisation derives the maximum benefits from the mobile workforce.

"Modern businesses are facing an increase in demand from consumers, increased competition and higher expectations regarding service delivery. It is, therefore, crucial for the sales force to be out in the field and able to sell from anywhere, anyplace. Hindrances should be kept to a minimum and the full advantages of mobile technologies and the cloud should be utilised to ensure sales success.
