South African enterprise customers are still a bit hesitant to move towards a full mobile campus environment.

This is according to Pieter Engelbrecht, RSA and Sub-Sahara head of Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. Aruba provides networking solutions for enterprises of all sizes. The company delivers solutions for organisations to serve #GenMobile: mobile-savvy users who rely on cloud-based business apps for their work and personal lives.

South African enterprises still treat the cables as a more reliable and secure, commented Engelbrecht. "With all that said, businesses, however, are demanding the more mobile approach. They can see the business value and possible revenue generation via a mobile environment."

Engelbrecht noted that the three things that companies should get right to achieve enterprise mobility are:

1. Security. There should be a big focus to have one management and security platform on both WiFi and wired.
2. Proper RF Planning. This is to make sure coverage is adequate to manage the full requirements.
3. Ensuring the environment is future proof and based on open standards. The only constant is change and your network needs to be agile enough.

However, it is not all dark and gloom for enterprises in South Africa as there is a great deal of potential for growth in the enterprise mobility space, Engelbrecht posited. "Definitely, I foresee a growth of about 20% in the next year. Enterprise companies do see the cost benefit of going mobile."

Engelbrecht will be presenting at the upcoming ITWeb Enterprise Mobility Summit in August. He will be talking about how enterprises can build a sound business infrastructure to ensure successful deployment of mobile solutions to the workforce. He will provide delegates with a step-by-step process to ensure a successful mobile enterprise strategy.
