Johannesburg-based investment company Inkunzi Wealth Group this week launched an online platform for investors that will provide South Africans with relevant algorithm-based advice.

The tool, called Techviser, is a derivative of a 'robo-advisor', which is defined as an online wealth management service that provides automated, algorithm-based portfolio management advice without the use of human financial planners.

The firm says these types of platforms are in use all over the world in the private client advisory space.

However, Inkunzi says Techviser has been designed specifically to assist the South African investor community: "With features that have been customised to take into consideration South Africa's early stages of global investing patterns," the company said in a statement.

The tool can be accessed from a desktop or any mobile device.

Everything is done electronically, and Inkunzi Wealth Group CEO Owen Nkomo says people who have been testing the platform really liked this aspect.

He says it was designed to cater for the modern open office set-up, where employees find it hard to discuss their personal issues over the phone and prefer a full electronic process instead.

The company is also targeting stokvels, retirees, family trusts and corporate clients.

Products available through the platform include stockbroking, investments, retirement planning, risk products, stokvel investing and estate planning.
