Tandberg and Siemens Enterprise Communications Group have expanded their strategic relationship to provide a forum for global collaboration, spanning both sales and product development.

The global resale agreement will see Siemens offering customers Tandberg solutions supported by its own managed services, which includes 24x7 network and device monitoring from its global Video Network Operations Centre. Tandberg will provide a dedicated maintenance and technical helpdesk to strengthen the managed service offering.

Gerald Kromer, senior vice-president of professional services and solutions at Siemens Enterprise Communications, says: “As we grow our ecosystem, working with companies such as Tandberg enables us to continue to deliver on our open communications commitment and offer a full range of integrated video solutions that meet our customers' needs.”

“Visual communications are a key component of a strong unified communications platform,” says Bryan Thompson, Tandberg area manager, sub-Sahara SA.

“With this expanded partnership we are making it even easier for Siemens customers to integrate telepresence and video conferencing across their entire organisation.”

According to Tandberg, Siemens will place an emphasis on mass adoption of video as a part of a complete unified communications (UC) platform, which is supported by Tandberg's solutions.

Tandberg adds that Siemens also certified Tandberg multipoint control units as fully interoperable with its OpenScape UC server.

The server is a new software platform designed to remove the artificial legacy barriers between today's traditionally separate voice, video and UC systems to support a comprehensive suite of UC applications, says Tandberg.
