By 2012, 20% of businesses will not own any IT assets, as technologies such as virtualisation and cloud computing drive organisations to do more with less.

ITWeb's Doing More With Less

More information about the ITWeb Doing More With Less conference, which takes place on 9 March 2010 at The Forum in Bryanston is available online here.

The ITWeb 'Doing more with less' conference will tackle this issue as it kicks off on 9 March at the Forum, in Bryanston.

Daryl Plummer, managing vice-president and chief Gartner fellow, says: "For many organisations, the economic and budgetary challenges of 2009 drove important changes in the general governance of IT investment decisions, accelerating the trend toward greater accountability and transparency.

"Although most organisations enter 2010 preparing for a return to growth, this financial oversight is unlikely to be lifted anytime soon. For IT leaders, greater fluency in the language of business has become a requirement."

Driving ROI

During the conference, Professor Pete Janse van Vuuren, executive partner at Gartner, will discuss the trends, priorities and actions CIOs need to take into consideration in 2010.

Industry experts will examine the forces shaping business expectations for IT, and what CIOs need to do in order to plan for those expectations during a recession.

The conference will explore technologies that drive return on investment such as cloud computing and IT automation.

Other topics to be discussed include outsourcing, enhancing and optimising existing IT infrastructure, BI and analytics, cutting the cost of communications, and implementing a successful application portfolio management strategy.
