Sizwe Africa IT Group has appointed television personality Tim Modise as CEO of the company from this month.

Sizwe Africa IT Group, a subsidiary of JSE-listed ConvergeNet, is a holding company for several subsidiaries, including Sizwe Business Networking, Smart Support Services, Sizwe Infrastructure and various other subsidiaries which make up the Sizwe Africa IT Group. Sizwe Africa IT Group is the largest ConvergeNet Holdings subsidiary.

The company was established in 2001 by the outgoing CEO Ben Kekana and Hanno van Dyk, after identifying the need for a black-owned support and maintenance provider in the ICT environment. It has since grown from a small owner-managed business to a medium-sized company employing more than 500 people with revenue of R700 million.

Modise has worked as the executive director of communications and commercial affairs for the 2010 Local Organising Committee and was chairperson of the BEE scorecard for the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism.

He was also chairperson of the Proudly South African campaign for three years, and has held numerous radio and TV broadcasting positions.

Modise previously served as a non-executive director at Sizwe Africa.
