London.gov.uk migrates to Drupal

London.gov.uk has migrated to the open source Drupal CMS system, reports The H Open.

The Web site for the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority (GLA) migrated its site to Drupal as the first significant update since 2001. The GLA team says they are using Drupal for two other projects: Climate Change Adaptation and the London Datastore.

The Drupal-powered London.gov.uk site features updated page navigation, improved accessibility and additional relevant content. The GLA Web Team considers the change to be "a good first step towards achieving goals of using digital channels to engage with Londoners, give Londoners access to our work and enable conversations to happen that just wouldn't have been possible before the advent of Web 2.0".

Jaspersoft's open source BI advances

Jaspersoft CEO Brian Gentile recently released download and community figures that suggest an increased traction of Jaspersoft's open-source-based business intelligence product line, states InfoWorld.

The company amassed more than 10 million downloads since late 2001, with the Jaspersoft community members counting in the 120 000's. Jaspersoft provided its estimate of community contributions to open source through work on the open source JasperReports, iReport, and JasperServer/JasperAnalysis.

Ohloh.net estimates Jaspersoft and its members have contributed nearly nine million dollars in full-time equivalent engineering investment to these projects.
