South African managed outsourcing IT provider Netsurit, specialising in small to medium enterprises (SMEs), has been awarded an IT contract to support Football Federation Australia (FFA) for the duration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
After arriving in South Africa on 6 June, Australia's Socceroos will play Germany in Durban on 14 June, Ghana in Rustenburg on 19 June and Serbia in Nelspruit on 23 June.
Jason Neville, new business consultant, and Thomas Wake, account manager at Netsurit, say the company will supply and support IT infrastructure for the FFA, whose role is to support the Socceroos team, its stakeholders, family and friends, coaching staff, FFA sponsors, partners and members throughout a two-month period at four separate sites around South Africa.
Netsurit will offer FFA nine hours daily on-site support, as well as 24/7 proactive remote support at custom-assembled Internet cafes, to ensure that they are in constant contact with their friends and family at home. Netsurit will also offer an array of services to them, including the supply of projectors, TVs and print facilities.
According to John de Carvalho, FFA's head of information & communication technology, the FFA team is confident Netsurit will provide superior service during the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.
“FFA was looking for on-the-ground IT experience and expertise to ensure a smooth operation whilst in South Africa. Netsurit came well recommended and replied to our requirements in a comprehensive, logical and professional manner. This approach continued through the due diligence and planning phases and we feel comfortable that we are in good hands with Netsurit,” says De Carvalho.
Importantly, he says, the Internet - in particular e-mail - availability and reliability is critical for all members of the FFA support team.
