Xperien appoints new managing director

Johannesburg, 17 Feb 2011

South Africa's leading IT refurbishing and asset recovery company, Xperien, is proud to announce the appointment of Alvin Peacock as the new managing director, starting with immediate effect. Alvin takes over the reins from Wale Arewa, who founded the company in 1999.

At just 29 years old, Peacock will steer the new generation company, working with the staff, 90% of whom are under the age of 30, and board of directors to realise the organisation's vision and mission. With a strong focus on job creation, he aims to continue to grow the R20 million-a-year-turnover company's BEE status and add to the current 25% black women team.

Born in Westbury, Johannesburg, Peacock was first employed as an IT technician in the then only two-employee company in 1999. He was later promoted to head of sales and warehouse and most recently assigned as managing member, a position in which he excelled.

He played a core role in helping manage the transition of Xperien since its inception into what is today a proud BEE accredited and certified IT hardware refurbishing and asset recovery company, which has just been awarded an ISO 9001 Certificate of Quality Assurance procedures.

“It's an exciting time for Xperien and we need strong hands at the wheel,” said founder Wale Arewa.

“I am confident that now is the right time to appoint a successor to help lead our business through its next phase of growth and to take the brand, as a whole, into the future. I am delighted that Alvin has accepted our offer to join the company as our new MD. It's incredibly fortunate for us to promote someone who has been with Xperien from the very start and knows everything there is to know about the company. His wealth of experience and knowledge will strengthen our relationships with our customers and partners, enabling us to deliver new products and services to meet South Africa's computer refurbishing needs.”

Commenting on his new appointment, Peacock said: “I am very excited to be working with the talented and ambitious team already in place at Xperien and look forward to growing the business. The pioneering days of refurbished IT hardware and asset recovery in South Africa are long over. The competition is getting stronger every day, which makes this industry both a challenging and an exciting place to be in at the moment. Xperien is well positioned to take advantage of opportunities opening up both locally and internationally.”
