Bidvest company Konica Minolta South Africa has appointed Alten Hulme as Cape Town branch manager.
Hulme has been with the company for almost 25 years, when he joined Helios as advertising manager at its head office in Johannesburg. The company changed its name to Helios Minolta and then Minolta South Africa, before it became Konica Minolta South Africa in 2003, when the Minolta and Konica companies in Japan merged.
Hulme moved to Cape Town as Sales Manager in 1990 and was consequently responsible for opening branches in Kimberley in the Northern Cape, as well as Windhoek, Grootfontein, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay in Namibia.
He returned to South Africa to manage the Cape Town sales team, a position he has successfully held for the past 12 years. In his new position as branch manager, he will now be responsible for overseeing a staff complement of almost 90 people.
“The Cape Town document management market is very healthy and Konica Minolta South Africa has proven that it clearly understands the needs of its clients - covering a broad spectrum of different types of businesses - by the number of loyal customers and new accounts won,” says Hulme.
He adds that he is supported by experienced and dedicated managers, where the average years of service of his Cape Town management team is more than 15 years per manager. “That is testimony to what a great company Konica Minolta South Africa is to work for. The company acknowledges good work as well as potential, and strives to invest in and develop its personnel in order to make it possible for promotion. Our staff training programmes are without a doubt the best in the industry and further reason to our success.”
