Heidelberg debuts Web-to-print solution

German printer Heidelberg is to unveil a Web-to-print solution for its Prinect Workflow software at Graph Expo and the International Graphic Arts Show in September, states ProPrint.

The manufacturer is working with one of its current existing Web-to-print partners, which include RedTie, EFI Digital Storefront, PageFlex, BrandMaker, Neo7even and MS-Visucom, to develop the module, which will be co-branded, but it will not confirm which partner it has chosen until September.

Prinect Web-to-print manager will enable users to automate processes such as creating mixed forms or selecting the most suitable production technology.

The Web-to-print functions also have direct access to the central Prinect database along with the management information system (MIS) and production workflow, which will enable print buyers to place orders or issue print approvals online via customised Web-to-print portals.

According to What They Think, in future, Prinect will be the only workflow solution in the industry to offer a fully integrated MIS.

This system is based on the MIS technology developed by software manufacturer CERM, which Heidelberg acquired at the start of the year. The solution is gradually being introduced worldwide under the name Prinect Business Manager.

The Business Manager has a broad application spectrum and a modular design, which makes it ideal for various sizes of print shop.
