No easy route for compliance

New record-keeping legislation has implications that reach beyond the legal department.

Legal firm Mostert Opperman noted that over the past three years, there has been an average of 41 new acts and 1 518 new subordinate measures annually.

Many industry players agree that with all these changes, the business units of organisations need to work together in order to achieve compliance.

Daniella Kafouris, manager at Deloitte and Touche, says there is no quick-fix to ensure that organisations are compliant. “Each organisation will have legislation requirements that it needs to meet in terms of the nature of the business.”

ITWeb's Governance, Risk and Compliance Conference will provide some insight into the risk considerations when moving data into the cloud, data and document retention requirements, and the implications when expanding business into Africa.

The summit takes place on 21 February, and attendees will benefit from in-depth insight from industry leaders in ICT law.
