Users of Samsung Android devices can now purchase apps from the Samsung Apps store via SMS.

This is according to Samsung SA MD Deon Liebenberg, who says that, in the past, some consumers were prevented from purchasing apps, as credit card payments were required.

Liebenberg says consumers can now choose between paying for apps via credit card or making payment via SMS.

Purchases via SMS will be confirmed via SMS. The company says costs will reflect on customers' monthly phone bills in instances where they are on a monthly contract, or a deduction will be made from their phone credit balances, if they are on prepaid.

Samsung SA says the service is available across all Samsung Android devices and across MTN, Vodacom and Cell C networks in SA.
