Google has unveiled Google Play, an online store that will sell music, movies, books and Android apps.

According to the company's official blog, the Android Market app on Android phones and tablets will be upgraded to the Google Play Store app over the next few days.

It adds that the movies, books and apps consumers have already purchased through the Android Market will still be available through Google Play.

However, while the US Google Play store will sell content from the Android Market, Google Music and Google eBookstore, in SA, the Google Play store will only sell Android apps.

The company says it plans to extend its content offering in other countries beyond apps.

The app store is cloud-based, giving users constant access to their content. Google adds that users can still access their content on any Android device by logging into their Google accounts.
