Cleversafe, Mezeo collaborate

Data storage company Cleversafe and Mezeo Software, a provider of software solutions for cloud-scale applications, have announced a partnership to develop enterprise solutions, Computer Technology Review reports.

The partnership is aimed at delivering easy access file sync and share capabilities for enterprises needing to store data behind their private firewalls, and for service providers looking to provide either single or multi-tenanted storage clouds with anywhere, anytime access.

Enterprise-class sync and share software from Mezeo, combined with Cleversafe's dispersed storage (dsNet) technology aims to give users highly secure and reliable access to files stored in enterprise cloud infrastructures from various mobile devices, or directly from browser interfaces such as Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari.

The consumerisation of IT has added a whole new level of complexity to enterprise IT. Driven by the 'bring your own device' phenomenon, the growing mobile workforce has come to expect access to information anytime, anywhere, irrespective of mobile device choice. While this trend may increase employee productivity, it comes with security challenges.

Most users storing and sharing corporate data are likely to connect through the same public clouds they use for personal files. Unless a corporate IT department has established its own solution to control user access to corporate data, and put mobile device policies in place, they are leaving the door wide open for users to potentially compromise that intellectual property through public channels.

ITbriefing.net writes that the combined Mezeo and Cleversafe solution provides a win/win solution for users and IT. Users have anytime, anywhere access from smartphones, tablets, desktops and Web browsers and can easily store, share and collaborate on corporate documents. IT helps improve user efficiency and security without adding complexity.

"Companies today have to walk a fine line between making their employees more productive by giving them access to information anytime, across a variety of mobile devices, and at the same time to protect corporate assets," said Marty Fluke, VP of business development at Mezeo Software.
