EMC SA affirms commitment to channel partners with VSPEX Proven Infrastructure

Johannesburg, 06 Aug 2012

The introduction of EMC's VSPEX Proven Infrastructure has once again entrenched the company's commitment to its channel partners.

The industry's most flexible reference architecture, VSPEX, consists of EMC's award-winning storage systems and next-generation backup products, along with best-of-breed virtualisation, server, and network technology from EMC alliance partners Brocade, Cisco, Citrix, Intel, Microsoft, and VMware.

Nick Christodoulou, Regional Channel Manager of EMC Southern Africa, says: “EMC is continuously bringing out more products and programmes which focus on the channel and are available exclusively through the channel. VSPEX is the latest element of this strategy, and it offers extensive benefits to our partners and our customers.”

EMC Southern Africa's focus on the channel is driven globally and backed by the award-winning Velocity Partnership Programme, a vigorous commitment from the EMC senior leadership team and stringent rules of engagement for the channel.

From a channel partner perspective, VSPEX offers increased market opportunities, faster time to market, a partner-branded and customisable solution, and the ability to leverage EMC's investment in the new VSPEX Labs to test additional infrastructures in collaboration with EMC and other VSPEX partners.

“With VSPEX, our channel partners can now sell complete, highly flexible solutions to their customers,” Christodoulou says. “It gives partners the option to mix and match server and network components based on customers' specific infrastructure and application requirements, improving profitability while optimising the value delivered to the customer.”

VSPEX adds value to the partner's sales process by reducing integration and validation costs while still getting all the benefits of delivering complete solutions. Furthermore, EMC Southern Africa is enabling its channel partners with training and technical and sales collateral to help partners bring VSPEX to market quickly. Partners are also entitled to brand their VSPEX solutions and increase their mindshare in customers' environments.

Commenting on benefits to the customer, Christodoulou says the VSPEX Proven Infrastructure is simple, efficient and flexible.

“VSPEX delivers predictable performance that significantly reduces the planning, sizing and configuration burdens of adopting private cloud or end-user computing environments,” he says. “In addition, EMC's validation of the VSPEX configuration greatly reduces deployment time.”

By leveraging technologies such as data de-duplication, compression and Fully Automated Storage Tiering (FAST), customers can expect to significantly lower operational costs. Tightly integrating these technologies with the hypervisor and end-user computing environments can also simplify administration and reduce management costs.

The flexibility of VSPEX enables customers to combine their choice of industry-leading server, network and virtualisation technologies into a proven infrastructure, which is validated by EMC and built on a highly flexible EMC storage and backup infrastructure.

“Most importantly, the customer's channel partner of choice - which understands their specific requirements - can customise VSPEX to meet their needs,” Christodoulou says.

"With VSPEX, we're giving our channel partners the tools to address the fast growing market in virtual infrastructure and private cloud computing. VSPEX will accelerate customers' journey to the cloud as it enables our partners to build value and differentiation. VSPEX has changed how solutions are delivered with partners."

As part of EMC's channel showcase in what has been named the 'Year of the Channel' for EMC, the local EMC Forum 2012 is taking place on 9 October 2012 at Gallagher Estate, in Midrand.
