Outstanding regulations for the controversial e-toll system will be gazetted in the next few days.
Speaking at the launch of transport month this week, transport minister Ben Martins said government is committed to engaging all concerned stakeholders.
He added that since the Constitutional Court ruling that set aside the interdict against the implementation of e-tolling, government has met with a number of interested parties and consultations are continuing.
Several stakeholders pointed out that e-tolling is not ready to be rolled out since relevant legislation is still outstanding. This includes the exemptions promised to public transport vehicles and the amended tariffs.
Martins said these regulations will be subjected to extensive public consultations and published in the Government Gazette within the next few days.
"I urge all the citizens of Gauteng to take active interest and participate by submitting written comments."
Media reports say the minister also encouraged citizens to buy e-tags, adding that the consultations are almost over.
Government yesterday announced a breakthrough with religious leaders regarding e-tolling, where it was agreed that the system should be used to fund the roads.
