T-Systems is pleased Shell has renewed a contract with it, says CEO Reinhard Clemens.

Deutsche Telekom's corporate customer unit T-Systems says petroleum company Shall has renewed its contract for another five years.

T-Systems is providing worldwide hosting and storage services to Shell. Under the agreement, T-Systems will continue to provide Shell with data centre infrastructure and computing services around the world. Shell has moved global dynamic SAP services into the cloud.

The value of the renewal was not disclosed.

Under the 2008 contract, T-Systems implemented a dedicated global delivery team in all key Shell locations to ensure a robust IT environment around the clock. Additionally, some 900 highly skilled Shell specialists joined T-Systems and contributed to fulfilling the service commitments to Shell.

"We are pleased that Shell has renewed its contract with T-Systems. I thank Shell for their confidence in us", said Reinhard Clemens, member of Deutsche Telekom's Board of Management and T-Systems CEO.

Deutsche Telekom aims to strengthen its growth with cloud services over the next few years. It has more than 131 million mobile customers, 33 million fixed-network lines and 17 million broadband lines. The provider is present in around 50 countries and has more than 230 000 employees worldwide.

T-Systems operates ICT systems for multinational corporations and public sector institutions. It has about 48 200 staff and turned over EUR9.2 billion in the 2011 year.
