Vodacom's revived PowerHour promotion gives prepaid customers an hour of on-net calls for R10.

Vodacom has brought back a prepaid promotion that effectively gives customers an hour of talk time during peak hours, now for R10.

The "PowerHour" promotion gives prepaid customers who purchase a Power Hour bundle for R10 an hour of talk time, to call other Vodacom customers. The bundle can be purchased between 6am and 6pm on weekdays, and customers can make calls until 8pm on the day of purchase.

Running from today until the end of February, the promotion mirrors Vodacom's R5 PowerHour introduced in July last year, which was open to prepaid subscribers for a month and allowed an hour of talk time between 6am and 6pm.

Mostafa ElBeltagy, managing executive for prepaid segments at Vodacom, says the concept proved to be "an instant hit" last year. "We've brought PowerHour back and this time we've extended the times from 6am to 8pm."

Vodacom says: "To access the promotion, customers need to dial *111# free from their cellphones, select 'Power Hour' and buy a bundle."

Once customers have used up their 60 minutes of talk time, voice calls are charged according to their current price plan rate. All unused minutes will expire at 8pm on the day of purchase.

The offer is only available to customers who have been active on the Vodacom network for the last 30 days or more, and a minimum of R10 needs to be in their cellphone wallet in order to purchase the bundle. Customers can only purchase one bundle per day during the week, setting the limit at five bundles per week.
