Evaluation of NetIQ's Identity Manager and Access Governance software suites has led to NetIQ this month (February) being positioned by Gartner as a Magic Quadrant leader for user administration and provisioning software solutions in the field of identity and access governance (IAG) processes.
Connie Grobler, technical specialist for Identity and Security Management at NetIQ South Africa, says there is an increasing need and attention in the market for identity and access governance solutions.
"IAG solutions yield much needed analytics that businesses and stakeholders require for audit and compliance, forensic investigations, risk assessments and other enterprise functions. Gartner has commented that the feature lines between user administration and provisioning (UAP) and IAG have essentially disappeared as a result of IAG tools assuming significant UAP capability. Large-scale UAP vendors are also integrating IAG features into their platforms."
Grobler adds that the Magic Quadrant leader award reflects NetIQ's commitment to customers and partners and their need to address the critical demands for access to corporate applications and data in this era of mega IT trends in the form of cloud, mobility and social identity, as well as the complexity these trends introduce to both IT and the business.
"Organisations need to continue to innovate in their approach to identity management and ensure it is ubiquitous to their infrastructure if they are to truly protect information assets from security threats and breaches. Corporate policy must be enforced and compliance requirements met from a foundation of user provisioning and administration."
